1.How do I define and implement a music strategy?
There are a series of key considerations that need to be appreciated in order to put in place a music strategy. For example: Who is your target audience? Do you have specific operational requirements? What’s your budget? At SBA, we take our clients through a brief process that allows us to answer these points and offer a music solution to suit.
2.What products do SBA offer?
SBA Music supply themed audio CD's and music video DVD's through to complete software and hardware solutions that deliver scheduled digital music, advertising and more. For more information, see our Music Solutions section.
3.How do I receive SBA product?
If you are subscribing to an audio or video program on CD, VCD or DVD format, we will generally provide you with an initial library of discs as well as a new disc(s) to add to your collection each month. If you’re subscribing to a music & hardware service, we will arrange the delivery and/or installation in consultation with you. You will then receive a monthly update disc for easy loading onto your system.
4.How is the music selected?
SBA Music have an expert team of music programmers that work around the clock researching, sourcing and reviewing new release music. All SBA music programs have a 'brief' which outlines its attributes (such as specific music styles to include, tempo ranges to conform to etc. For more information, see our audio programs or video programs). Our programmers reference these briefs when they are creating new programs, to ensure the songs they select are in keeping with the brief and that the programs remain consistent.
5.How much music will I receive?
This depends entirely on the type of music service you subscribe to. For example, most CD, Video CD or DVD programs contain between 15 and 20 tracks, so if you subscribe to a disc based service, you typically receive an initial library of discs and then a new disc(s) each month to add to your library. With our Music Management Systems (and depending on your music brief), you will receive upward of 15 new tracks each month.
6.Can I choose my own songs?
In all instances we take our customers through a thorough music brief process. This ensures we capture your requirements in such a way so that you get the music you're after. If you have specific feedback (i.e. songs or artists you do or don't want), this is covered off in the brief. We also offer customised solutions, so if you have an extra special requirement, we can generally accommodate it.
7.Can I get a custom program?
Custom programs are just that - as a consequence they generally cost slightly more to produce. Typically, a custom program becomes cost-effective when the cost can be spread across more than one site. For example, a multi-site retail or fast food group might want a music program to include specific brand references or songs. Provided the cost of the production can be amortised across multiple sites, custom programs can be a cost-effective and powerful alternative.
8.Do I own the music?
SBA are licensed by the licensing bodies and record companies for 'reproduction and duplication'. In technical terms, this means that the music you receive remains property of the record company and artist. To learn more, see licensing.
9.Are license fees covered?
SBA Music are licensed to reproduce and duplicate sound recordings and music videos (through ARIA, AMCOS and the individual record companies in the case of music videos). Businesses that play music are then required to pay license fees that cover the broadcast of music in a public performance environment (through APRA & PPCA). To learn more, see licensing.
10.Do SBA supply content to 3rd party systems?
SBA can supply content to 3rd party systems on the basis that certain criteria is met (typically this means conforming to certain security standards, digital file specifications and more). If you have a system that you're interested in obtaining music content for, contact us and we will be happy to discuss your requirements further.
11.What do SBA products cost?

A range of digital Music Management Systems (such as the AudioPlay-S) are available from less then $100 a month, inclusive of music updates.
