Lennon's Missing Guitar Auctioned Off For A Mind Boggling Amount

Julien's Auction House in California has auctioned John Lennon's acoustic guitar for a whopping US$2.41 million!

Lennon bought the J-160E Gibson acoustic guitar in 1962 and recorded such Beatles classics as "Love Me Do" and "I Want To Hold You Hand" with it. Unfortunately, during the Beatles' Finsbury Park Christmas Show (1963) it mysteriously disappeared, only to be discovered by John McCaw, a novice musician who had purchased the guitar at a junk shop.

This makes the US$137,500 the auction house raised for Kurt Cobain's iconic 'MTV Unplugged' derelict green sweater seem like a bargain in comparison!
