Perth-bred/NY based artist, Cameron Avery, has a well established foot in the music industry with his past experience as a member of such bands as Tame Impala, Pond and The Growl. However, he is new to the scene as a solo artist with the release of his debut album Ripe Dreams, Pipe Dreams.
Inspired by the old records he loved —Johnny Hartman, Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley, Sarah Vaughan, Etta James, Avery says of the upcoming self-produced album, “I just started saying ‘yes’ to things while making the album. I figured: I’m in my mid 20’s, I play in a band, I live in Los Angeles—I’m ripe to dream. But the pipe dream, the underlying theme of the album, if you really listen, is that all I really want is to have someone in my life and to be in love.”
The Wasted On Fidelity (the first single to be lifted off the album) video, directed by Joy Collective provides a bold, cinematic demonstration of the single’s themes - exploring the ebbing debauched haze following a failed relationship.
