September Launching Pad - Clairy Browne & The Bangin' Rackettes

Clairy Browne & Bangin Rackettes

In the current musical climate where synthesizers and auto-tune vocals are staple, it’s refreshing to hear a raw vintage sound recreated by Clairy Browne & The Bangin’ Rackettes. The 9-piece soul outfit from Melbourne, spearheaded by vixen Clairy Browne on lead vocals, the group incorporate rhythm & blues, northern soul, doo-wop, ska and jump blues into their sound and cite influences ranging from Etta James and Tina Turner through to modern masters such as Prince and D’Angelo.

Their debut album ‘Baby Caught The Bus’ was produced by Steve Schram (whose credits include Public Enemy, Cat Empire, Little Red, Little Birdy) and soul stompers from the album have drawn comparisons to past and present soul legends such as Sharon Jones and Bettye Lavette.
