Daft Punk – Get Lucky
It’s still hard to believe that Daft Punk decided to launch their latest record ‘Random Access Memories’ in Australia - especially in the tiny rural town of Wee Waa! Needless to say, Aussies have a special place in their beating hearts for the dance legends. Already a chart topper, ‘Get Lucky’ is a retro feast featuring N.E.R.D’s Pharrell Williams on vocals. Apparently disco ain’t dead just yet!
The Wanted – Walks Like Rihanna
“She can’t sing, she can’t dance - but who cares, she walks like Rihanna!” I wonder how miss um-ber-ella feels about being turned into a lyric by British boy band The Wanted? Flattered? Or asking for royalties!? Either way, The Wanted are returning to the stage in 2013 with album number three - logically named ‘Third Strike’. The boys look to top the success of previous singles, ‘Glad You Came’ and ‘Chasing The Sun’.
Empire Of The Sun – Alive
Emperor Steele and Lord Littlemore deliver album number two, ‘Ice On The Dune’ this month via EMI. The electronic duo hasn’t lost any of their theatrics during the five year gap since their debut LP ‘Walking On A Dream’. The lead single ‘Alive’ sees Empire Of The Sun don their headpieces once again for a sci-fi inspired video clip. Somehow the guys convinced some famous models to dress up in animal suits for the occasion!
Little Mix Feat. Missy Elliott – How Ya Doin’
Hello, hello - Missy Elliott is back, believe it or not but the ‘Work It’ star has made an unlikely collaboration with girl group Little Mix! ‘How Ya Doin’ borrows from the classics – it samples the bass line from Fat Larry’s Band ‘Act Like You Know’ and the vocals from ‘Name And Number’ by Curiosity Killed The Cat – released back in ’89! Pick it up on Little Mix’s latest album ‘DNA’ – out now.
